Damn, it keeps saying connection failed when I attempt it. - XenBuddhist
yeah, what.cd was like having issues with that... i think they only recently sorted it or somethign like that.
Would a better idea be to use a forum with some sort of chatbox at the top/bottom?
In theory: yes

But if that was hosted on the server that would require too much resources. It'd be too RAM/memory/CPU intensive for the server, it'd bring it down in an instant as soon as a good chunk of people were online, using it. Hence why what.cd is providing services, they take the heat (they have bigger and more expensive servers).... and it's free, so.

Plus, it'd look tacky smack on the front page or the like.

Now if it was hosted elsewhere, it'd work (like it is currently)... i mean, technically i could place a mibbit chat of the sort somewhere on the forum front page but again, it looks weird and too busy. It's better off on it's own page, ultimately. Possibly, when i get the new forum out and rolling I'll have a link to "Chat" on the main menu of the forum (SMF 2.0 isn't quit ready yet, and i'd still have to complete a theme for it, as this current theme wouldn't be compatible. This current theme is just a modified version of someone else's work anyway, but the one i'm working on is done from the ground up, but it'd still have to be approved by management regardless etc New theme will be more minimal (i'm a minimalist at heart) and simpler... at the moment, it's like way too crowded... too much going on on it hah.. at least in my opinion anyway).
