Can someone explain what so different about tumblr from other blog sites?

I see bunch of folks joining it cuz it's the "in" thing to do as of late haha. I mean, I know of people who never even considered blogging suddenly jumping along.

What makes it stand apart from the loads of blog sites out there that have been freely available for well over a decade now?

I'm guessing it's gonna try to dethrone twitter in regards to microblogging at this point, jeah? haha.

It makes blogging so much easier..... and I forgot what I was gonna write..haha

you can follow blogs in real time, you can like blog posts, easy to post something, etc... and also its a very editable blog site (html code rulez)

btw i only post pics at my blog ehhehe, i love pics.

But there's plenty loads of blog sites offer the whole follow/keeping track thing... and just about most social sites offer some sort of "like" or "favourite" feature. Those are rather general features most social sites offer these days.

I'm gonna guess for some it's the supposed flexible html, but I see loads of people using pre made layouts, so not sure on that one for the majority.

i'm on tumblr so therefore it's automatically better
