Official lyrics to Doe Deer are "deathray deathray" but, it really says that???
Doe Deer samples Alice's vocal from the bridge of Insectica because she had disappeared that week.

You work with what you got at the time, lawlz.
yeah i think so too, i actually just started reading sartre's book the other day and i really like it but that doesnt really have anything to do with cc hah

It's an awesome book! Kind of hard to get into but it's worth the effort. His partner Simone De Beauvoir is arguably an even better writer than he is and apparently his philosophy stems from what was originally a lot of her ideas.
Exoskeleton was once joking titled "Atlantis Praying Mantis" (if memory serves) and she has a really interesting concept about the praying mantis as a metaphor for a strong woman. Something vaguely CC related right there. It's worth a read. I could go on about his stuff forever if you let me. Another time, another forum perhaps!

With regards to IAMOC lyrics at the beginning it sounds like Alice is saying "too many drugs" right before the song totally changes into the calmer, more ambient, middle section. I still think it's  a song describing what happens when you die but idk. I know it's a duet but I can't hear ethan's parts. ;s

oh cool thanks for pointing that out i'll look up her work when i've finished these books i got from sartre. i will let you know when i've finished it and then we can talk about it more ^^

i am listening to iamoc and i cant hear it to be honest, i always hear "nuclear war" in it but they probably dont say that hah. i never really thought about what iamoc is about but the describing what happens when you die thing makes sense to me. i always thought chalk was whats in your bones but that's just my lack of english? it would make sense with the death thing though as in being a skeleton? oh whatever im rambling
hah yeah i only found out today that's what chalk actually is

and lol at 9000 posts. thanks mono

you cant hear nuclear war but you can hear "mommy no" very distinctly

yes you must! ^-^
I think I posted it in here before but I feel like chalk refers to how easily life is taken away. Chalk's quite a soft rock that crumbles easily and I think that refers to how life is quite a fleeting thing. We're not these big, strong, indestructible mammals as we'd like to believe, we're easily destroyed beings. I feel like the different parts of the song are for stages of dying, struggling and fighting it at first and then accepting death.

Still sounds like dolphins having sex kind of.  Nahh your interpretation makes sense! It's marrow i think inside your bones?

I'm not really looking for a definitive answer as to what the songs mean, music is a personal thing i'd rather have my own interpretations untill the meanings were to be point blank clarified by the band. But that's not really important to be honest. When you actually can get into a discussion on here i find that much more interesting.
thats just what people say when they have no idea what they're listening to

im jus lookin out.. i found a bunch of answers on yt. songmeanings.net just added to the confusion

Wow didnt know that.. sweet

She does put some other lyrics into the song live tho..
^ There's more in the song than just DEATHRAY I'm pretty sure.

The breakdown (can I call it that?) sounds like the "You give me more" part of Insectica.
it sounds to me like 'you need it' or 'you eat hair'
but it's probably neither of those
