no surprise really, considering what he had gone through and whatnot... what with that pancreatic cancer stuff and whatnot. He really lost weight  during/afterward.... reminded me of how the father went, he died of pancreas related stuff etc. dunno if he went due to this exactly, but judging but what was up, i'm sure it contributed in one way or another, it seems... never really gained back his weight, imo

r.i.p.

he died of cancer? thats actually a very treatable from too. cancer is really not that hard to live through.
he died of cancer? thats actually a very treatable from too. cancer is really not that hard to live through.
Well that's an incredibly ignorant comment.
Actually it's not. There are many proven ways to completely eradicate cancer with nothing but simple things like fruit and vegetable juices.

Besides there are already "smart bombs" on the market which are basically these little killer dudes. They are built big enough so they cannot fit into a normal healthy cell, but small enough to fit into a large cancer cell and kill it.
And to top it off literally every person in my family save for my mother has had cancer and lived through it. No meds.
History of Touch Screen Technology

1960s
Historians consider the first touch screen to be a capacitive touch screen invented by E.A. Johnson at the Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern, UK, around 1965 - 1967. The inventor published a full description of touch screen technology for air traffic control in an article published in 1968.
 1970s
In 1971, a "touch sensor" was developed by Doctor Sam Hurst (founder of Elographics) while he was an instructor at the University of Kentucky. This sensor called the "Elograph" was patented by The University of Kentucky Research Foundation. The "Elograph" was not transparent like modern touch screens, however, it was a significant milestone in touch screen technology. The Elograph was selected by Industrial Research as one of the 100 Most Significant New Technical Products of the Year 1973.
In 1974, the first true touch screen incorporating a transparent surface came on the scene developed by Sam Hurst and Elographics. In 1977, Elographics developed and patented a resistive touch screen technology, the most popular touch screen technology in use today.

In 1977, Siemens Corporation financed an effort by Elographics to produce the first curved glass touch sensor interface, which became the first device to have the name "touch screen" attached to it. On February 24, 1994, the company officially changed its name from Elographics to Elo TouchSystems.

1980s
In 1983, the computer manufacturing company, Hewlett-Packard introduced the HP-150,

a home computer with touch screen technology. The HP-150 had a built in grid of infrared beams across the front of the monitor which detected finger movements. However, the infrared sensors would collect dust and require frequent cleanings.
 1990s
The nineties introduced smart phones and handhelds with touch screen technology. In 1993, Apple released the Newton PDA, equipped with handwriting recognition; and IBM released the first smart phone called Simon, which featured a calendar, note pad, and fax function, and a touch screen interface that allowed users to dial phone numbers. In 1996, Palm entered the PDA market and advanced touch screen technology with its Pilot series.
 2000s
In 2002, Microsoft introduced the Windows XP Tablet edition and started its entry into touch technology. However, you could say that the increase in the popularity of touch screen smart phones defined the 2000s.
In 2007!, Apple introduced the king of smart phones, the iPhone, with nothing but touch screen technology.

but
The first touchscreen phone was the IBM Simon,

 launched in 1992.
During this decade the popular iPaq (not made by Apple by the way)

was launched with touchscreens and optional phone attachments.
HTC, the leader in touchscreen phones up until the iPhone and makers of phones like the Nexus One launched their first touchscreen phone, the HTC Wallaby aka XDA in 2002

. Apple did actually make a concept for a touchscreen phone (not a mobile, a regular landline phone) way back in 1984!
NOW ask yourself - WHY "Apple" take so much money for them product?
Yeah ...that big lost for family ...and for Apple ...but not for PC world.

Touchscreens are usually not found on PCs, exorcist. You're talking about portable machines, something different. you're speaking of tablets/smartphones at any rate. that's not the only thing apple makes :p

@celestica, i dunno if he died of cancer or not, they haven't said and may not say. all i know he had pancreatic cancer at some point, like in 06 and apparently treated for it (was treated in time, supposedly)... but this is where he got really thin and lost a lot of weight, and never really seemed to fully recover. That said, i'm sure all his top doctors knew/know what they could do for him. I mean, the guy was filthy rich after all.

I am in PC world from 1987....so tell me plz - what is so great Apple did in history of PC,phones, pad i.t.c?

Was Jobs gay lifestyle lead to his liver damage?
I've heard that most gay men are regularly on antibiotics due to having Hepatitus B or C (From LT anal sex practice). I'm wondering if Jobs liver damage eminate from persistent Hepatitus, especially C which can result in serious liver tissue damage in your later years.

RIMM(BlackBerry) makes sense
watch apple start to slowly sell off now that they have properly saluted Jobs with everyone's 401K money as they sold their own shares, as they have been doing for about a month or whatever its been dropping for, because they new he was going to die.

What was the cost of the first Apple computer?
The first Apple Computer called the Apple I (http://www.answers.com/topic/apple-i) went on sale in July 1976 for a retail price of $666.66
(hmmm) Some say the price was chosed because of the repeating digits but in reality, the first 50 computers were originally sold to the Byte Shop for $500 who then added a one-third markup to the price
Symbol of original sin.

iPod U2 ???!___ LOL
Yeah newsflash: most people in Silicon Valley are not religious, if not all. Most super bright people aren't, usually because they can easily see the b.s. that comes with religion. A lot of religious folks, tend to be more uhh... well, not as intellectually evolved, to say the least. That's why religion suits them, because religion can be very irrational....

Apple stock is actually very valuable, a bit back it was the most valuable stock, i'm not sure if it still is. Exxon Mobile was 1 prior. I don't have charts with me at the moment. But their stock is doing fine, muh.

he wasn't gay actually, believe it or not. had i think 4 kids and whatnot. i dunno of a gay guy who has 4 kids with 2 different women, but i guess you'll come up with the fact that he was a closet case or something wacky with your ways.

Apple always pushed the consumer market towards a certain shift.

They released the first personal computer to the consumer market, aimed at a larger audience and worked, everyone got on board there after. They also did the mp3 player right, even after others failed at it, no one was ever to reach the success the iPod had in that market ultimately and won't ever, as we shift towards smartphones and streaming. They got the market to shift to smartphones on a larger scale as well. They've also have gotten people to buy tablets on a massive scale. iPad outsells any tablet by a huge margin. Other competitors have tried to get into the market, but have had to discontinue products due to not selling well, if at all.they've shifted technology like no one else. In a lot of ways, they were not original, but they definitely always pushed and set the bar higher, for others to follow. They kept everyone on their toes, watching their backs. Kept up a really good healthy competition, which drives innovation.

This is Bill Gates on Steve Jobs:

Quote
I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.

Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.

The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.

For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor.  I will miss Steve immensely.

also:

OS X > Windows 7

Unix based OS ftw ( including Linux ;D ).
BTW, you left out the fact that Apple took/stole Xerox's idea of the GUI Operating System, might want to add that to your arsenal of w/e you wanna call you are doing. i don't know what you're getting at but that may help your point of view or something, muh.

Microsoft then stole the idea from Apple.

it all comes full circle and blah blah blah

But Apple was the one that pushed it to the whole world and then everyone jumped on it from Amiga to Microsoft to Linux people etc etc

its illegal in america for doctors to treat cancer with anything other than chemo or surgery.

“Surprisingly, there is one thing that Mr. Jobs is not, at least not yet: a prominent philanthropist. Despite accumulating an estimated $8.3 billion fortune through his holdings in Apple and a 7.4 percent stake in Disney (through the sale of Pixar), there is no public record of Mr. Jobs giving money to charity. He is not a member of the Giving Pledge, the organization founded by Warren E. Buffett and Bill Gates to persuade the nation’s wealthiest families to pledge to give away at least half their fortunes. (He declined to participate, according to people briefed on the matter.) Nor is there a hospital wing or an academic building with his name on it. …the lack of public philanthropy by Mr. Jobs — long whispered about, but rarely said aloud — raises some important questions about the way the public views business and business people at a time when some “millionaires and billionaires” are criticized for not giving back enough… In 2006, in a scathing column in Wired, Leander Kahney, author of “Inside Steve’s Brain,” wrote: “Yes, he has great charisma and his presentations are good theater. But his absence from public discourse makes him a cipher. People project their values onto him, and he skates away from the responsibilities that come with great wealth and power.”
message for mr.Jobs:
WHY??? - $360 billion !!!
yes _s.jobs - you dead _ and your money is here.
Now explain for Jesus - WHY? _he will judge you mr.Jobs ,not me! _i am just make questions.
